Plesk backups, safe in Italy
With the “ArchiviOnline.it Backup” Plesk extension, your Plesk server’s backups end up in your ArchiviOnline.it archive, in Italian datacentres. You schedule, check and restore them right from Plesk.
What it does
Automatic backups, when you want
Schedules for the whole server, for resellers, for customers or for single subscriptions. Plus a “Run now” button and manual backups.
From Plesk’s Backup Manager too
ArchiviOnline.it appears as a remote storage in the Backup Manager: the backups you already make with Plesk can go straight to your archive.
Restore from Plesk
The list of stored backups is in the panel: from there you download a backup or restore it, with the restore steps shown on screen.
A dedicated folder
Backups go in the “Plesk backups” folder of your archive, with a subfolder for each server, customer or subscription. Only the extension adds files; from the website you download or delete them.
Results by email
If you like, you get the result of each backup at the address you choose.
One extension for every level
Server administrator, reseller or customer: each connects and sees only the backups of their own level.
On your PC or Mac too
If you choose so in Plesk, the “Plesk backups” folder can also be on computers with the ArchiviOnline.it app for Windows, macOS and Linux. So you have a copy of the backups in the office too.
Download the app- It is your choice: at first the folder stays only in the archive, because it is large and grows every day.
- On the computer the folder is read-only: you can open and copy the backups, not change them.
- Before downloading, the app checks there is enough disk space.
- When Plesk deletes an old backup, it disappears from the computer too.
A secure connection
- Your account password is not stored in Plesk: the extension gets a connection that works only in the “Plesk backups” folder and sees no other file.
- It works with two-step verification too.
- Encrypted connections only, with the server certificate checked.
- When you connect a server you get an email notice; from your account you see the connections and can remove one, which stops working at once.

Each Plesk level uses its own account and its own folder.
Anyone who wants their data in Italy
Backups are kept in Armada’s Italian datacentres, together with the rest of the archive.
What you need
- A server with Plesk 18 (Obsidian) or later on Linux.
- An ArchiviOnline.it account: Personal, Business or Public sector. Backups count towards the plan’s space, which can be increased.
Good to know
- Backups in the “Plesk backups” folder are deleted permanently, with no bin, and have no versions: a backup with the same name replaces the previous one.
- They are already packed archives: you download them, they cannot be previewed or shared.
- If space runs out, the backup is not saved: delete old backups or increase the space.
