Install the app on macOS

ArchiviOnline runs on Macs with Apple silicon and with Intel processors. Download the app only from the Download page on archivionline.it.

Installation

1. Open the downloaded file, which ends in .dmg.
2. Drag the ArchiviOnline icon into the Applications folder.
3. Open ArchiviOnline from Applications. The first time, your Mac only asks you to confirm “ArchiviOnline is an app downloaded from the Internet”: select Open.

No administrator rights are needed.

The app is signed and verified by Apple

Since version 1.7.3 ArchiviOnline is signed by Armada and verified by Apple: it opens without warnings and you no longer need System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway. ArchiviOnline updates are protected too: they’re only installed if signed by Armada.

If your Mac says it can’t verify the app, don’t open it: download it again from the Download page.

If you update from an earlier version

The first time 1.7.3 starts, your Mac may ask one last time whether ArchiviOnline can use the confidential information stored in “it.archivionline.desktop” in your keychain: it is the app reading its own sign-in to your account. Allow it: enter your Mac password and select Always Allow. After that the request doesn’t appear again.

Where to find the app afterwards

ArchiviOnline lives in the menu bar, top right. Closing the window doesn’t stop syncing: to quit, use the icon and then Quit.
